Remotion vs HyperFrames for Claude Code video (and where style kits fit)
HyperFrames and Remotion are video engines. They turn code into an MP4, and both ship agent skills that teach Claude Code how to use them. ReelStyles is a library of film styles that sits on top of an engine: our kits render with HyperFrames and add the look. So the short answer is that you always need an engine, and you add a style library when you want a designed look without directing every frame yourself.
We sell ReelStyles, so read this with that in mind. The facts about the other two come from their GitHub pages and licence pages, checked on 16 October 2026.

HyperFrames
HyperFrames is HeyGen's open-source engine. Claude writes each scene as an HTML page with animation, and HyperFrames plays it in a headless Chrome and records it to MP4. The repository had 64,878 stars on GitHub on 16 October 2026 and is licensed Apache-2.0. It comes with official skills, including one for product launch videos.
Pick it when you are happy to describe the look yourself, or when you want the engine our kits use. Its CLI has the commands you use every day: doctor checks your machine, lint checks the scenes, snapshot writes stills and render makes the film.
Remotion agent skills
Remotion builds videos as React components. Its agent skills teach Claude Code to write Remotion projects. The licence is the thing to read first: Remotion is free for individuals and companies of up to 3 people, and larger companies need a paid licence (Creators from $25 a month per seat on Remotion's licence page, 16 October 2026).
Pick it when your project already runs on React and Remotion, or when your team knows React well and wants to build its own components.
Where style kits fit
ReelStyles gives your agent the direction the engines leave to you. Each style is a kit: the palette, the cast of characters, scene templates, motion and cut rules, and a checklist the agent grades its own stills against before it renders. There are 72 ready styles, from 80s cel anime to paper pop-up and 3D toy worlds, and every example film on our site was made by a fresh Claude Code given only the kit.
Since the kits render with HyperFrames, you keep HyperFrames installed. ReelStyles is not bound to Remotion's company licence. It is paid: one payment, and every style we add later is included. The kits are plain files, so Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other agents can follow them too; every example film on our site was made with Claude Code.

Which one to use
- You want to learn how code-made video works, or you have a clear picture of your own look: start with HyperFrames on its own.
- Your app is a React codebase and you want video components inside it: Remotion.
- You want a finished style with the same characters in every scene and a check that runs before the render: add a ReelStyles kit to HyperFrames.
You can also mix them. Nothing stops you from using a ReelStyles kit for your channel films and plain HyperFrames for a one-off launch clip.
What none of them do
All three make drawn and designed video: cartoons, diagrams, motion graphics, type, toy-like 3D. None of them makes realistic footage of people. For that you need a video model.
