SRT to VTT converter (and VTT to SRT), free and private
Open or paste a subtitle file and convert SRT to WebVTT or WebVTT to SRT. The file stays in your browser and nothing gets uploaded. You don't need an account and the result has no watermark. The main difference between the two formats is the timestamp. SRT writes 00:00:01,000 and VTT writes 00:00:01.000, under a WEBVTT header line.
What the converter changes
- SRT to VTT: adds the WEBVTT header and turns the comma before the milliseconds into a dot. Cue numbers stay as cue ids, which VTT allows.
- VTT to SRT: drops the header and any NOTE, STYLE and REGION blocks, numbers the cues from 1, writes short mm:ss timestamps as hh:mm:ss, and removes cue settings (such as align:start) and voice or class tags. Bold and italic tags stay.
Which one should you upload?
YouTube accepts both. Use VTT for the HTML <track> element on your own site, since browsers read only WebVTT there. Use SRT for video editors and most other players.
Captions in an animated film
When your coding agent animates a film, it can also burn the captions into the picture word by word instead of shipping a side file. The ReelStyles kits include caption rules for each style. Browse the 121 styles.
Make the video itself
ReelStyles is a set of 121 finished film styles for AI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, and 41 of them are made for 9:16. Your agent animates the whole film in code on your computer. 6 of the styles are free.
